Something Fun #11: Recent Interview
Dejah Payne's June 2025 comix update
It’s Dejah here with a June comix update. I’m happy to announce that an interview with me has been published in a comix zine, and pages I illustrated appear in a new mental health themed anthology.
Comix Zine Interview
Earlier this year, cartoonist Danny Ferbert (Turtle House Comics) interviewed me. I answered questions about what got me into comics, my influences, and my preferred tools of the cartooning trade. Danny published the interview in this month’s issue of their zine Electric Transit; the issue features interviews with 4 other artists and reviews of funny animal comics. He was kind enough to send me a complimentary copy (pictured below.) You can read the interview on his blog.
How to Survive In Your Mental
Last year, comics writer Brandon Hayes asked me to collaborate with them on a mental health related comic project. I illustrated 3 pages of a comic strip featuring their character Thready, and I also lettered pages illustrated by other artists. That project has now been released.
The anthology, titled How to Survive In Your Mental, scripted and published by Brandon Hayes, features artwork by several other artists including Andy Meanock, Frank B. Fallon, Ryan James Webb, JP Valdecantos Anfuso, Marko Svarka, and Ben Perkins (who was also interviewed for the June issue of Electric Transit.) There’s a lot of talent and hard work that went into this project, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
Ryan C’s Four Color Apocalypse recently gave the book a favorable review. You can buy the book directly through Brandon on Instragram.
New Stories On the Way
That’s it for immediate updates. However, I am hard at work on new personal work, which you can follow the progress of on my Patreon.
Thanks for reading! 💖
